هَلْ غَادَرَ الشُّعَرَاءُ مِنْ مُتَـرَدَّمِ = أَمْ هَلْ عَرَفْتَ الدَّارَ بَعْدَ تَوَهُّمِ
To explore and reconstruct, have the poets left anything for me?0
And have you recognized the beloved’s abode after much guessing and uncertainty?0

أَعْيَاكَ رَسْمُ الدَّارِ لَمْ يَتَكَلَّـمِ = حَتَّى تَكَلَّمَ كَالأَصَـمِّ الأَعْجَـمِ
The speechless remains of the house made you bewildered
and when it spoke, like the deaf, the inarticulate it gestured.0

وَلَقَدْ حَبَسْتُ بِهَا طَوِيلاً نَاقَتِي = أَشْكُو إلى سُفْعٍ رَوَاكِدِ جثَّـمِ

To quietly perching birds I was complaining.0
يَا دَارَ عَبْلَـةَ بِالجَوَاءِ تَكَلَّمِي = وَعِمِّي صَبَاحَاً دَارَ عَبْلَةَ وَاسْلَمِي
Do speak to me, O Ablah’s dwelling in Jawa where my beloved does live.0
May your mornings be blessed, and may you be protected from mischief.0
دَارٌ لآنِسَةٍ غَضِيْضٍ طَرْفُـهَا = طَوْعَ العِناقِ لذيـذةِ المُتَبَسَّـمِ
It is the dwelling of whom I feel at ease with, that casts down her eyes;0
who welcomes my hugs, with delightful smiles.0

فَوَقَفْتُ فِيهَا نَاقَتِي وَكَأنَّـهَا = فَدَنٌ لأَقْضِي حَاجَـةَ المُتَلَـوِّمِ
I halted my she-camel in it, before a magnificent palace(she-camel) I felt that I stand.0
Crying over our separation, pining for reunion, may it (house) complies with my demand.0
وَتَحُلُّ عَبْلَـةُ بِالجَـوَاءِ وَأَهْلُنَـا = بِالْحَـزْنِ فَالصَّمَـانِ فَالمُتَثَلَّـمِ
in Jawa, Ablah now resides
while my folks live in Hazan, Samman and Mutathllam tribes.0
حُيِّيْتَ مِنْ طَلَلٍ تَقادَمَ عَهْدُهُ = أَقْوَى وَأَقْفَـرَ بَعْدَ أُمِّ الهَيْثَـمِ
I was wholeheartedly greeted by long deserted abode
So desolate was it, after Omul-Haitham had taken the departure road.0

Accessing your land has become hard for me.0
عُلِّقْتُهَا عَرَضَاً وَاقْتُـلُ قَوْمَهَا = زَعْمَاً ورب البيت لَيْسَ بِمَزْعَـمِ
I’ve accidentally fallen in love with you, while your people are killed by me.0
Loving you is not a fake allegation, I swear by the Lord of the house, it is a matter of certainty.0
وَلَقَدْ نَزَلْتِ فَلا تَظُنِّـي غَيْرَهُ = مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَـةِ المُحِبِّ المُكْـرَمِ
You’ve won the standing of being close to my heart, so doubt not that love;0
thou art my heart’s permanent resident, I’m not the one that does bluff.0
كَيْفَ المَزَارُ وَقَدْ تَرَبَّعَ أَهْلُهَـا = بِعُنَيْـزَتَيْـنِ وَأَهْلُنَـا بِالغَيْلَـمِ
Too bad! her people now live in Unaizatain, so how may I visit her ?0
her residence is far from Ghailam, hence it’s hard for me to go there.0

O myself how I may visit her and her people, in Unaizatain, stay
and my people live in Ghailam, so reaching her place is no way.0
إِنْ كُنْتِ أزْمَعْتِ الفِرَاقَ فَإِنَّمَا = زُمَّتْ رِكَابُكُم بِلَيْـلٍ مُظْلِـمِ
You determined to leave your camp, undoubtedly, that is so clear.0
Making your camels ready for the journey in coal-black night made that appear.0
مَا رَاعَني إلاَّ حَمُولَـةُ أَهْلِهَـا = وَسْطَ الدِّيَارِ تَسَفُّ حَبَّ الخِمْخِمِ
Nothing made me fear but the camels eating khamkham grains midst their habitation.0
By then, I realized that they (camels)will take you away and I will live in alienation.0
فِيهَا اثْنَتَانِ وَأَرْبَعُـونَ حَلُوبَـةً = سُودَاً كَخَافِيَـةِ الغُرَابِ الأَسْحَمِ
Forty-two milk-giving she-camels, in all, within.0
Black in color as the feathers of raven.0
إذْ تَسْتَبِيْكَ بِذِي غُرُوبٍ وَاضِحٍ = عَذْبٍ مُقَبَّلُـهُ لَذِيـذِ المَطْعَـمِ
Fascinates and charms your mind her well formed teeth.0
Sweet her kisses and spittle are, remembering them will never cease.0

وَكَأَنَّمَا نَظَرَتْ بِعَيْنَيْ شَـادِنٍ = رَشَـأٍ مِنَ الْغِزْلانِ لَيْسَ بِتَـوْأَمِ
When looking, she goggles as her eyes like the ones of a fawn.0
Which(fawn) is not part of a litter and healthily born.0
وَكَأَنَّ فَأْرَةَ تَاجِـرٍ بِقَسِيْمَـةٍ = سَبَقَتْ عوَارِضَهَا إِلَيْكَ مِنَ الْفَـمِ
Her mouth is as fragrant as dealer’s precious musk in a bottle;0
bottle perfuming the cheeks, but first her spittle.0
أَوْ رَوْضَةً أُنُفَاً تَضَمَّنَ نَبْتَهَـا = غَيْثٌ قَلِيلُ الدِّمْنِ لَيْسَ بِمُعْلَـمِ
Or like the sweet scent of an isolated garden of flowers.0
Its sod ‘s none of dung, not known pasture, enlivened by gentle showers.0
جَادَتْ عَلَيْـهِ كُلُّ عَيْـنٍ ثَـرَّةٍ = فَتَرَكْنَ كُـلَّ حفرة كَالدِّرْهَـمِ
Early spring clouds generously shower it.0
A dirham-like, well-rounded shape, they give every pit.0
سَحَّاً وَتَسْكَابَاً فَكُلُّ عَشِيَّـةٍ = يَجْرِي عَلَيْهَا المَاءُ لَمْ يَتَصَـرَّمِ
Every evening; nonstop and permanently
by ceaseless sprinkles it is watered, abundantly.0
وَخَلاَ الذُّبَابَ بِـهَا فَلَيْسَ بِبَارِحٍ = غَرِدَاً كَفِعْلِ الشَّـارِبِ المُتَرَنِّـمِ
The insects ‘re vivacious midst its blooms;0
never leaving it, inebriated as drunkards humming tunes.0
هَزِجَاً يَحُكُّ ذِرَاعَـهُ بِذِرَاعِـهِ = قَدْحَ المُكِبِّ عَلَى الزِّنَادِ الأَجْـذَمِ
They(insects) intone and croon, together, whetting their limbs;0
as one-armed person trying to generate sparks by striking steel on flints.0
تُمْسِي وَتُصْبِحُ فَوْقَ ظَهْرِ حَشِيَّةٍ = وَأََبِيتُ فَوْقَ سَرَاةِ أدْهَمَ مُلْجَـمِ
You spend nights and days on soft beds and cushions, while mine are getting worse;0
I pass my nights on the back of Al-Adham, my bridled horse.0
وَحَشِيَّتِي سَرْجٌ عَلَى عَبْلِ الشَّوَى = نَهْدٍ مَرَاكِلُـهُ نَبِيـلِ المَحْـزِمِ
As to my bed, it is a placed packsaddle indeed
on a thick-legged, gigantic, able-bodied steed.0
هَلْ تُبْلِغَنِّي دَارَهَـا شَدَنِيَّـةٌ = لُعِنَتْ بِمَحْرُومِ الشَّرَابِ مُصَـرَّمِ
Would a cursed Yemenite she-camel make me reach her abode;0
cursed by inability to generate milk and bear, fast when taking the road.0
خَطَّارَةٌ غِبَّ السُّـرَى مَـوَّارَةٌٌ = تَطِسُ الإِكَامَ بِذَاتِ خُـفٍّ مِيْثَـمِ
When set on a journey in early morning, Sprightly, tosses its tail when it moves;0
advancing nimbly, stamping the tracts with her agile hooves.0
وَكَأَنَّمَا تطسَ الإكَامَ عَشِيَّـةً = بِقَرِيبِ بَيْنَ المَنْسِمَيْـنِ مُصَلَّـمِ
Resembling an earless close-legged male ostrich in walking fast groove
covering the distances continuously, stamping tracts with every hoof.0
تَأْوِي لَـهُ قُلُصُ النَّعَامِ كَمَا أَوَتْ = حِزَقٌ يَمَانِيَـةٌ لأَعْجَمَ طِمْطِـمِ
The ostrich chicks respond to its call.0
As (Yemenite) camels do to a rider, albeit his words unintelligible at all.0
يَتْبَعْنَ قُلَّـةَ رَأْسِـهِ وَكَأَنَّـهُ = حِدْجٌ عَلَى نَعْشٍ لَهُنَّ مُخَيَّـمِ
They made before their eyes its crown-like head.0
As it is a howdah at the top of a stead.0
صَعْلٍ يَعُودُ بِذِي العُشَيرَةِ بَيْضَهُ = كَالعَبْدِ ذِي الفَرْوِ الطَّوِيلِ الأَصْلَمِ
